Anamaria Marinca bio

Anamaria is a Romanian actor. Her screen debut was with Sex Traffic, a Channel 4 movie for which she received the British Academy Television Award as the most outstanding actress. A native speaker of French, German and English. Her mother was a violinist and her father is a theatre professor at one of the best Romanian theater schools. She was awarded the Best Female Actor of the Year in 2000 Award for the Young Actor Gala Mangalia. She was named European Shooting Star by the European Film Promotion Board in the year 2008. In 2007, her role of Cristian Mungiu's Romanian art film 4 luni 3 semaines si 2 days (4 months, 3 weeks and two days) earned her the Palme d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival 2007 and two additional awards: the Cinema Prize for the French National Education System as well as the FIPRESCI Prize. In addition, she appeared in the film of Francis Ford Copola Youth Without Youth. In 2008 she was a character in the film Yasim anwar in the BBC mini-series The Last Enemy. Marinca appeared in an episode of the Romanian drama Boogie and Oliver Hirschbiegel's award-winning Five Minutes of Heaven. The actress later played a significant performance in the 2014 film Fury where she played a German woman whose name was Irma aunt of Emma.
