Audra McDonald is unparalleled in the breadth and versatility of her artistry as both a singer and an actor. She has been a six-time record recipient of the Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards as well as an Emmy Award she received in the year 2015 by Barack Obama. A stunning singer, with an unmatched gift of emotional truth-telling, Ms. O'Connor is at ease in Broadway as well as the stage of opera and on TV. She has a successful career performing and recording performing regularly in some of the most prestigious performances around the world. McDonald was raised within Fresno California by her musical parents. She studied classical music at Juilliard School, New York. After graduating, McDonald received the Tony Award Best Performance for a Lead Actress of Musical at Carousel in the Lincoln Center Theater. Over the next four years she received two more Tony Awards under the featured actress category. In 2014, she created Broadway history and became an official Tony Awards most decorated performer after she received six awards for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill the role which was also the vehicle for her Olivier Award nominated 2017 debut in London's West End. Aside from setting a record in which she won the most awards by an acting, she became the first woman to be awarded the four categories of acting. McDonald is also featured in other theatre productions, including The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (1999), Henry IV 2004 110 in the Shade (2006) Twelfth Nigh (2009) The Twelfth Night also was the Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut shuffle Along or The Making of the Musical Sense in 1921 and All That Followed (16) Frankie and Johnny in Clair de Lune (192019) and Ohio State Murders (2023) McDonald's first role as a dramatic actor on television was in the Peabody Award-winning CBS show Having Our Say The Delany Sistersthe first 100 years. She went on to co-star with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber in the highly acclaimed 1999 remake by ABC and Disney of Annie and, in 2000, was a frequent guest on the NBC's hit show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald, who was awarded an Emmy Award nomination in 1999 for her performance as a character in an HBO adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Wit with Emma Thompson, made her return to the network in 2003 with the drama about politics Mister Sterling. The film was produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. The Bedford Diaries, a WB television series that debuted in 2006. She then had an recurring role on NBC's Kidnapped within the next year. McDonald's performance in the HBO production Lady Day At Emerson Bar Restaurant earned her four times an Emmy nomination in the year 2016. The actress starred with Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale in The Bite a six-episode pandemic-themed drama co-produced with Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios in 2021. McDonald, who first appeared in The Good Wife, a CBS legal drama The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick between 2009 and 2018 reprised the role (now called Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight in the role of a Paramount+ season regular. McDonald received nominations in the three Critics Choice Award awards. The actress is currently an actor in Julian Fellowes' historical film The Gilded Age.
